And Still More Complications....
This week I had gone to South Bend on Tuesday for some IV fluids which were supposed to help with nausea and possible dehydration. Two days later it's getting close to the weekend--mouth sores have increased, and I'm still feeling very nauseous. Called the doctor and the doctor said, we want you to come back in....Another round of IV fluids. I'm cold all the time, my nose is bleeding regularly, but they just want to be on the safe side of maintaining those liquids, so they are asking me to come in once again, just three days out from the last IV administration. The exhaustion is still very much present. All I do is move from my recliner to my bed and back to the recliner all day long. I am napping and still sleeping at night, so guess my body is just letting me know it's still rest time. I will say the debilitating fatigue is not quite as bad as it was earlier this week! I'm actually up and moving around a bit more.
In I went and had another round of IV fluids on Friday...the mouth sores are getting worse, I cried in the nurse's office because I was just so discouraged with all the side effects that keep showing up. The nausea, lack of taste, fatigue and complete exhaustion I was ready for, but not the bloody noses, the open skin sores that are now showing up on my face, and the terrible mouth sores. All I have to do is lower my head, feel that warmth start to drip and it's another bloody nose. All I can do for those is just have an ice pack ready and a mini tampon to stuff up my nose, haha. Just kidding about that. They do stop pretty quickly, so that's a good thing.
So they called in a prescription for Mary's Magic Mouthwash....it's pretty powerful and decent tasting and a bright red cheery red. The pharmacy has to compound it and it was not cheap, 61.00 for this bottle. Still having trouble with insurance recognizing my new Jan. 1 RX card, so I had to pay out of pocket, until I can figure out the snafu. But it was worth it. You swish it around and then the directions say to swallow it! I decided not to swallow it, those drugs can't be a good mix added to all the crap in my body right now, so will ask at next appointment about that. I've tried it twice so far and it's helping with the pain. Here is what is in it:
I recognize the dexamethasone as a steroid....oh, boy, that should help me feel a little better, until my glucose levels go up....It's a trade off....
Other than that, I am playing the waiting game for the rest of my hair to fall out. Two weeks for it to fall out what remains is super common, and I'm at 14 days today. I shaved it down to 1/8"...I'm ready! My scalp hurts a lot...they say when the hair follicles die off, your scalp will be very tender and it sure is....
So here we are at the weekend. I do feel physically better after my IV yesterday...ate a pretty big breakfast this morning, we went out to eat. Eggs tasted pretty great, bacon hurt a lot to eat but potatoes and toast were not too bad. Drinking yogurt drinks now and then, still downing lots of water, and whatever I can get down into my stomach and not feel sick about eating, I'm mixing it up a lot. For some reason, homemade chocolate chip cookies taste really normal and are a wonderful treat to have now and then. Hope everybody has a relaxing weekend! I'm hanging in there with everybody's help, and I do mean everybody! Thank you for your continued prayers and offers to help, family and friends.....Love you guys... Jeannie
🙏❤️ Keep pushing. Sending prayers your way.
